My love of design was founded in web design as a teenager. I stumbled upon HTML and CSS at the age of 13, and once I realized I could make web pages look however I wanted with a few keystrokes, I quickly set about teaching myself all the code I could find. As I taught myself to code, I also created graphics - first with Microsoft Paint, then Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7, and eventually Adobe Photoshop.
I created and ran dozens of websites throughout my teen years, about all kinds of interests I had, mostly Sailor Moon. I loved using these new skills to share my interests with anybody who would visit. To this day, I still find joy in using my creative skills to communicate with others, and it's the driving motivation in my career (even if opportunities to talk about Sailor Moon are rarer than they used to be).
Today I do a range of work, including but not limited to:
Logo design, brand guideline development and design, brand strategy, editorial and booklet design, infographics and data visualizations, social media design
Art direction for photo and video shoots, storyboarding, experiential art direction and working in real spaces, directing designers and vendors
& UX Design
Visual design, user flow planning, basic wireframing, working closely with developers, front-end development
Other Visual Skills
Presenting to clients, comping mockups and layouts, print production coordination
I studied graphic design at OCAD University and graduated with a bachelors degree in 2011. Since then I've had the privlege of working at a number of agencies and on in-house teams, serving a variety of clients.
Pushing the boundaries of "normal" is my favourite - I love making something a bit weird and unconventional.
